A seven-year-old girl from Exmouth has continued a remarkable rise to fame as a TV star in the Philippines.
The Journal reported last year how Xiamara Vigor, also known as Xia, who moved to the Philippines around four years ago with her father, Alan, had shot to stardom after winning a national TV talent contest.
Since then, she has appeared in 12 TV commercials and filmed a new TV drama, Langit Lupa, which will be shown this month.
Xia, who is also finishing her first film, Mang Kepweng, is also now part of the biggest talent company in Asia, Star Magic at ABS CBM, and has more than 100,000 followers on Instagram.
Parents Alan and Christy said: “She’s truly remarkable. She has still managed to get As in her school work and pursue guitar, piano, ukulele, singing and dancing practice, despite the number of hours she puts in with her acting.”
They say Xia is regularly stopped in the street due to her fame, but Alan added: “We are determined she stays grounded in spite of her huge popularity and we are grateful that she has been able to work with amazing actors, such as Jacklyn Jose, Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Coco Martin and others of that calibre, who have huge followings.”
Xia, whose brother Liam has also broken into show business with modelling and TV commercial appearances, is next due to return to Exmouth with her family to visit her grandparents next year.
