WORLD cup fever has gripped Brixington.

Staff at the Budgens store have laid on a number of football-themed activities to celebrate the start of the four-yearly tournament being held in South Africa.

Youngsters can have their face painted in the shop before every England game, free of charge. More than 100 kids turned up for the first event last Saturday, June 12.

David Calland, owner of Budgens, has also had a replica World Cup trophy for people to have their photo with.

And, Mr Calland donated a table football game to the Brixington School Association which was used in their summer fair to raise funds.

He said: "Parents of the school support the shop, so I thought I would return the favour. "When I showed the table to a lady from the PTFA, she was thrilled. I'm just pleased to be helping the school out in some way.
