WOODBURY Salterton Church of England Primary School is the proud recipients of garden equipment won by Woodbury pupil Bradley Mackey, 10, in a competition held at the Devon County Show in May.

As part of the Year of Food and Farming, the competition, sponsored by Mole Avon Town & Country Stores, was open to schoolchildren visiting the show. Answers to the questions which related to the objectives of the Year of Food and Farming - educating young minds to respect good, healthy food and where it comes from - were dotted around various stands within the showground.

The Year of Food and Farming was launched in September 2007 with a vision of 'feeding young minds with a respect & passion for good, healthy food and where it comes from'.

The Year of Food and Farming is supported by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Department of Health and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

Bradley Mackey from Woodbury won a whole host of composts, soil testing kits, seeds, trowels and other gardening items for his school.
