Witness appeal after serious collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision between a car and cyclist on the edge of Topsham yesterday (July 28).

The collision happened at around 7.40pm on Topsham Road, at the junction with Higher Wear Road.

Police believe the silver Ford Fiesta was travelling along Topsham Road from Topsham, heading towards Countess Wear, when the cyclist emerged from the nearside before being struck by the car.

The 30-year-old male cyclist was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with extensive injuries including a head injury. He has been since been transferred to Derriford in Plymouth.

The 18-yearold male driver of the Fiesta, from Exeter, is not believed to have been injured.

The road was shut for eight hours while police investigators were at the scene.
