Withycombe youngsters learn sea safety at Exmouth
YOUNGSTERS from Withycombe Raleigh Playgroup took a look at the work of the Exmouth RNLI crew when the children visited the seafront inshore lifeboat station.
YOUNGSTERS from Withycombe Raleigh Playgroup took a look at the work of the Exmouth RNLI crew when the children visited the seafront inshore lifeboat station.
The youngsters, who recently raised �35 for the RNLI after holding a dressing-up day, were given a talk on how the lifeboats operate and had the chance to sit in the inshore lifeboat (ILB) and tractor.
Playgroup assistant Sarah Harflett demonstrated the gear the ILB crew put on to attend a shout.
The children cheered her on as she tried on each layer of clothing at speed.

She said: "I was surprised at how heavy the clothing and lifejacket is. You need to be fit just to get changed, let alone save lives at sea.
