Withycombe green slime mystery

Green slime has been seen flowing down the brook opposite the Country House Inn in Withycombe Village Road.
The substance was first seen in Withycombe Brook on the morning of Saturday, February 6, when a 52-year-old man from Moorfield Road was walking his dog.
He said: “It was a glowing substance - it looked like anti-freeze.
“What really got me was that this was flowing all afternoon and there was a hell of a lot of it.
“A chemical that glows green and flows down the river for hours could have wildlife implications.”
The villager also said he had no idea where the slime had come from, but by the time he walked his dog on Sunday morning, it had gone.
The Withycombe Brook, which runs down the back of the pub, feeds directly into the River Exe.
As the Journal went to press, the Environment Agency had not commented.
