WITHYCOMBE Raleigh pupils go head-to-head with Woodbury Primary at the finals of the Digita Tag Rugby Festival this Saturday at Sandy Park.

Exmouth-based software developers, Digita, sponsored a festival of tag rugby on Monday with around 160 children competing in 16 teams at Exmouth Rugby Club.

The 16 teams were all drawn from local schools schools and each were hoping for the chance to win through to the final.

Two teams each from Withycombe Raleigh, St Peter's and St Joseph's Primary Schools entered and were joined by teams from Littleham, Bassetts Farm, Beacon, Woodbury, Woodbury Salterton, Brixington, Marpool, Exeter Road, Otterton and Drakes Primary Schools.

Now the two remaining schools will compete in front of a bumper crowd before the Chiefs first home Championship play-off match against London Welsh on Saturday, March 27, with the medal presentation taking place at half-time.

Managing director Jerry Rihll, himself a former pupil at Withycombe Raleigh School, said: "We are very much embedded in the Exmouth community.

"As part of our corporate and social responsibility programme, it would be a wonderful thing to support the young people of the town and the surrounding area in a way that promotes outdoor activity and physical exercise.

"What better way then to team up with Exeter Chiefs, one of the biggest names in rugby, to deliver a wonderful festival of school tag rugby.
