Exmouth RNLI was called out this week after a windsurfer got into difficulty off Maer Rocks.

The incident began at around midday on Monday when a kitesurfer alerted RNLI lifeguards, who were on Exmouth beach preparing for their upcoming season, that a windsurfer was in trouble.

The inshore lifeboat George Bearman was despatched, with experienced volunteers Andy Stott, Mark Champion and Roger Jackson at the helm, and they went to the aid of the man, from Budleigh Salterton, who had a broken fin on his board. The crew rescued the man and took him back to the lifeboat station.

The RNLI lifeguards will be patrolling Exmouth beach between May 25 and September 8.
