BUDLEIGH Salterton Lions Club is gearing up for its August annual charity golf day and is appealing for teams to take part.

The event is held in aid of FORCE cancer charity and last year raised more than 4,000 for the cause.

A host of golfing prizes are up for grabs - including a car if you score a hole-in-one.

Prize giving and an auction will be held during the evening.

Auction lots include a football shirt signed by the Manchester United football team, golf days and signed shirts from London Irish and the Exeter Chiefs.

This year's event, at East Devon Golf Club, will be held on Thursday August 27 and the organisers hope to increase the 29 teams who took part in 2008.

Numbers are limited, so early booking is essential.

Entry is 160 per team of four players, inclusive of a meal.
