Where has pastor been since 1960?

Your correspondent Pastor Emerson is getting carried away by concerns about sex ("Freedom's price", Opinion, May 15).
His linking of same-sex marriage with paedophilia is so far off the mark as not to be worth serious reply, but as to the less bigoted opinions in his letter, his main argument seems to be that he equates same-sex marriage with ‘a sexual free-for-all’!
Where has Pastor Emerson been for the last 50 years?
As an ageing hippy, I can dimly remember that the sexual revolution was certainly with us in the ’60s and I’m sure there have been few innovations since then! No, same-sex marriage has nothing to do with any ‘sexual free-for-all’ – the desire of people to get married is exactly the same whether homosexual or heterosexual.
It is a desire to demonstrate to each other, as well as to friends and relations, that you care enough for each other to move on from a casual relationship to make a long-term commitment.
I would hazard a mischievous suggestion that any kind of marriage is unlikely to result in more sexual activity – most often less!
