I must admit that I am perplexed. There seems to be belief that Asda are coming to Exmouth. Letters from Exeter Road traders seem to confirm this.Did not several thousand local residents vote against this part of the town being developed? Does this fact have any bearing on what will happen in the future? Or will it be ignored and will a new store suddenly appear?Councillors are elected by the people and should (and probably do) reflect this in their decisions, if not, they can, of course, be replaced! Two weeks running, Asda officials have written long letters to your paper pointing out the advantages to be gained by their presence. Increased choice etc: so they are terribly eager to gain our support. We should beware people bearing gifts; it's our money they are always after!B Kennard Simpson,Otterton.
