MORE than £3,000 was raised for child cancer sufferers at a weekend fundraiser at The Country House Inn in Withycombe.

Regular punters joined in the fun and games that included a quiz, pool and darts competition on the Friday.

This was followed on the Saturday and Sunday in the beer garden with outdoor skittles, a coconut shy, football, stalls, a duck race, a barbeque and even a homemade boat race.

Monday started with a soaking in the stocks for the landlord and landlady. Mrs Elizabeth Eshun followed with a prize draw of more than 100 prizes.

These had been donated by local businesses, pubs, grocers, toyshops, jewellers, sports shops, with a karaoke to finish off the weekend.

Two regulars also raised money through sponsored swim and headshave.

The cheque for £3056.04 was presented to a representitive of the Paediatric Oncology Fund at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where children are suffering from cancer and leukaemia.
