FIREARMS officers rushed to a town centre property in the early hours yesterday morning after a samurai sword and traces of blood were found in a hallway.

Police were called to flats in Albion Road at 12.15am, where a member of public had reported spotting the sword.

Officers searched the area, speaking to 20 year-old man and a 22 year-old woman at a nearby flat. A samurai sword was later discovered under a bed, and later "disclaimed" by the flat's resident, according to police.

Blood was traced to an accidentally cut hand. Police seized the sword while making no arrests.
