The teenage rider and pillion of a motorcycle were killed yesterday following a road traffic collision in Exeter.

At approximately 8pm on Tuesday July 15 a single vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the A3015 Rydon Lane in Exeter.

The only vehicle involved - a motorcycle - was in collision with the central crash barrier and a lamp-post.

Both the rider and pillion passenger were declared dead at the scene.

The deceased were both boys from the Exeter area - one aged 16 and one aged 15.

The vehicle involved was an unregistered blue and white Yamaha 'off-road' trail motorcycle.

Police are appealing for witnesses especially those who may have seen a motorcycle matching this description being ridden in the area prior to the collision.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

Next-of-kin have been informed.

The road was closed for six-and-a-half hours.
