Threat of more travel disruption leads some schools to shut at lunchtime.

The threat of more severe weather disrupting travel this afternoon (Thursday) has forced a number of schools to close early.

Sidmouth College closed at 1.30pm and a number of primary schools, including St Andrew’s in Chardstock, also closed at lunchtime.

A band of very wet and windy weather is forecast to sweep from west to east across the South West this afternoon - just a day after heavy rain caused widespread flooding in the region.
