RELATE is urging Exmouth's baby boomers to get counselling so they can enjoy their retirement.

They say that couples who have visited Exmouth for their summer holidays often move here on retirement, leaving behind family and friends.

During the winter they can feel isolated with only each other for company leading one of them to miss children, grandchildren, friends and ex-colleagues. This could lead to them to question why they moved, rows and increasingly separation.

Exeter manager Rebecca Wellaway said: “We are seeing an increase in couples from their mid-fifties upwards who have decided to move to Exmouth and have found the move difficult to cope with - the dream of a happy retirement by the sea does not always live up to expectation for one of the partners.

“We urge people in this situation to come to RELATE before it’s too late.”
