THE 1921 Act of Parliament and the 1948 Local Government Act both state, and I quote: "It is the duty of every city, town, village and parish in the country to erect and maintain, depending on their means, a suitable memorial to the nation's war dead."The war memorial that we have is there to respect and honour all of our nation's war dead, regardless of colour or creed, and should remain unaltered, where it is and as it is, for time immemorial.R Whitley,1 Littlemead Lane,Exmouth.
