A 17-strong team from Devon and Cornwall Police are to take up a hiking challenge along the River Otter, the Jurassic Coast and Woodbury Common in aid of the NSPCC.

The members of the child exploitation unit and high tech crime unit based in Ashburton, Devon, are on September 27 picking up the baton to take part in the NSPCC's first South West HACK - Hike Against Cruelty to Kids.

The circular route starts and finishes in the grounds of Bicton College, in East Budleigh, and walkers will also step out along the Jurassic coastline, the River Otter, Woodbury Common and some picturesque East Devon villages.

Detective Inspector Simon Snell said: "The force child exploitation unit often calls upon the services of the NSPCC to assist young victims in the criminal justice system and beyond.

"This event provides us with the opportunity to say thanks to the NSPCC and also raise some sponsorship for a worthwhile cause." Anyone interested in taking part can visit www.canuhackit.co.uk for a registration form, or call the NSPCC south west appeals team on 01823 346346, email southwestappeals@nspcc.org.uk.

The registration fee is 15 (non-refundable) and includes a Can U Hack it? t-shirt and a meal at the end of the day.
