VILLAGES throughout East Devon are invited to enter a competition to be crowned the best in the UK.The UK Calor village of the year competition invites villages from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with a population of 5,000 and fewer to battle it out to become the United Kingdom Calor Village of the Year.Some 12,000 English villages are eligible to enter the 2009 UK competition.Entry is through county events held nationwide, where villages can be nominated to represent that county in the national competition. Details of the local competitions in England can be found on the competition website at www.calorvillageoftheyear.org.
