East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) majority Conservative group is encouraging people to take part in a consultation ahead of the authority’s move from its Knowle HQ.

Residents and businesses are being invited to fill in a questionnaire on the relocation, which will see the council up-sticks from Sidmouth to Honiton and Exmouth.

Feedback from the survey will be used to determine what services the council will need to provide at its new premises, and how people want to access those services.

EDDC’s leader, Councillor Paul Diviani, said: “It’s really important that we get the best possible bang for buck from this move, both for the sake of our customers – the council tax payers of East Devon – and for the benefit of the local businesses, our staff and elected members.

“It’s also vital that people of different ages feel they can access our services in a way that best suits them – regardless of their age, physical fitness, or their ability to travel or use the internet.”

Cllr Diviani added: “We know there are a minority who want to stop this move and some challenges still remain. But let’s be clear, this survey is not a chance for those who still refuse to accept this change, despite all the evidence in favour, to have another go at stopping it. The move is gaining momentum and now it’s a question of getting the best possible outcome for all concerned; that is what we are determined to do.”

Forms will be sent to 3,000 households across the district. Residents can also complete the survey on EDDC’s website.
