FIREFIGHTERS continue to battle to put out a large garage fire raging on R and R Motors, in Victoria Way.

Some eight fire crews have been at the scene since around 1pm tackling the large blaze, which has engulfed the garage.
Billowing black plumes of smoke can be seen on the approach into Exmouth.
A police cordon has been put into place throughout the town because gas and acetylene cylinders inside the garage are exploding in the intense heat.

Fuel and oil from the garage has intensified the blaze and homes and businesses within the cordoned-off area have been evacuated.
Muffled explosions could be heard coming from Victoria Way area as fire crews battled to bring the blaze under control.

Some residents living in Victoria Road have been told they face being evacuated for up to eight hours.
Scores of onlookers and evacuated residents have been standing and watching as the drama unfolded.
Firefighters have been training hoses on the blaze and adopting aggressive firefighting techniques.
Fire crews are expected to be in place all night tackling the blaze and dampening down the area.
Traffic was brought to a standstill along Marine Way as the police set up cordons and drivers were told find alternative routes.
