Archant

An Otterton view with a difference has been available this week, thanks to ongoing construction work at the village church.

The roof at St Michael’s Church is currently undergoing major repairs.

To allow this, scaffolding has been erected by contractors, and members of the public have been allowed to climb up and get a close-up view of the work, as well as enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

The work is going ahead thanks to a £230,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, along with around £125,000 which has been raised in the community.

Along with the roof repairs, the project also includes new toilets, glass entrance doors and heritage displays.

Places on tours were still expected to be available tomorrow (Thursday, August 24), which can be booked by emailing Malcolm Crabtree at rmcrabtree@waitrose.com.
