Children from St Joseph's Primary School stepped back in time to find out what school life was like in Victorian times.

Before the half term break, pupils from Year 2 at St Joseph's Primary School had the opportunity to learn in a Victorian era classroom.

The children came to school in old fashioned-style clothes for the day and experienced what it was like to be in a Victorian school setting including sitting in rows and standing up when the teacher entered.
They children swapped usual computer games and toy cars and instead made peg dolls, played a cup and ball game and baked biscuits the Victorian way using an authentic biscuit recipe.

In the afternoon, the pupils experienced playground games such as hopscotch, ball skills and skipping. The children were also shown what a mangle was and how it was used and had the chance to have a go at washing clothes the Victorian way.
