A Budleigh Salterton couple who run a Fore Street delicatessen have spoken of their joy at Taste of the West award.

A Budleigh Salterton couple are celebrating after their deli business scooped a gold Taste of the West award.

Vanilla Sky, in Fore Street, has been recognised by the regional food and drink awards for being the best retail and deli business in the region.

Clare Loftus and Nick Sweet took over the premises previously used by Delytes Delicatessen nine months ago.

“To get a gold award when we have only been open for nine months – we’re really pleased, said Clare.

“We’re just delighted – our customers say they like but to get it from people who are judging businesses in the region is amazing.”

Vanilla Sky was visited by a mystery shopper who was given a £20 voucher to spend in the shop to test the quality of service provided.

Clare added that she ‘nearly fell over backwards’ when the mystery shopper revealed herself to them. Within day’s they received email confirmation of their award success.
