A service which delivers library books to disabled ad elderly people is looking for new users.

The WRVS Books on Wheels service sees a team of volunteers delivering books to people in Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh, Yettington and Otterton.

The books are supplied by Exeter Special Services Library, and are changed around five times a year.

Around 600 books are available in both normal print and large print, and in a variety of genres, including novels, fiction, romance, general non-fiction, biography and travel.

The volunteer deliveries take place once a fortnight, and are free of charge.

Service organiser John Goatley said: “We cater for anyone who can’t get to the library – whether they’re elderly or disabled.

“We did have around 20 users, but it’s reduced a bit lately, so it would be great to have more people using the service.

“We’re sure that there must be people around that need this service – especially as the mobile library has reduced its service.”

The volunteers also operate a book room in Gardener’s Cottage at Budleigh Salterton Hospital.
