Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire ‘destroyed’ a portable cabin in Topsham on Tuesday (June 7).

Fire crews were called out to a fire in Rydon Lane at around 6.45pm after reports of a fire at a ‘temporary accommodation’ at Rydon Lawns.

Crews confirmed the accommodation was on fire and put it out using two hose reel jets, breathing apparatus and one safety jet.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and the accommodation was completely destroyed.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman confirmed they were informed that a portable cabin was set alight and are treating the incident as suspicious.

Anyone with any information which would help the police with their investigations is asked to call 101 quoting log 818 on June 7.
