Fire fighters called out to a major building fire in Exmouth have been cutting away roofing to expose hotspots.

Eight fire engines were on the scene after a fire broke out at Consol Tanning Studio, in Parade.

Fire fighters are now working to ‘dampen down’ hotspots after the fire was put out.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: “Crew are at work with small tools from the aerial ladder platform cutting away the roof to expose hot spots.

“Positive pressure fans and one hose reel jet are also in use.

“A building inspector was requested to attend due to some masonry being in a precarious position.”

The Parade remains closed to traffic.
