Householders have received a leaflet in the post from EDDC pressing their case for continuing to exist instead of being absorbed in a Devon unitary authority. Printing and posting this leaflet to every household is another example of the waste of council tax payers money by EDDC. Another example was the Unlocking Exmouth report and public consultation, when the proposal for a superstore by the Exe Estuary was soundly rejected by the residents of Exmouth, yet the result of that exercise has been ignored. The proposal to get rid of one tier of bureaucracy (the district councils), by forming a unitary authority for Devon, is a good one. We all have the option of supporting a Devon Unitary Authority by writing to the Boundary Committee (Devon), at London, SW1P 2HW. David and Margaret Ritchie(by email)
