What does Sam Palfrey, of David Rhys & Co, mean in his 'Winds of Change' article on page 37 (Journal - April 2)? He states that "homeowners have rather enjoyed a licence to print money for over a decade". This comment is both audacious and unfair because, when a homeowner wants to move house, he or she usually goes to an estate agent. The homeowner doesn't suggest the asking price; the agent does, so how can the homeowner be enjoying a licence to print money? It is rather the other way round.Anyone who wanted a mortgage, whether it be first, second, third or fourth time buyers' were being manoeuvred into taking out these loans for over-inflated property prices, the commissions must have been enormous, the agents are the real winners in this, not the people who succumbed to it.Name and address witheld.
