DREAM-a-way is keen to hear from businesses or people who want to take part in a day of dragon boat racing to help raise funds for the organisation.

DREAM-a-way is keen to hear from businesses or people who want to take part in a day of dragon boat racing to help raise funds for the organisation.

The competition will raise money for the charity which provides holidays on Sandy Bay, in Exmouth, for people with physical and learning disabilities.

The event will take place on Exeter's Quay on Sunday, August 31, and will be a day of fun entertainment to keep the whole family active and live music.

The organisation has warned individuals and businesses that spaces are quickly filling up and asked prospective competitors to enter quickly to avoid disappointment.

Each boat requires a team of 17 with 16 rowers and one drummer to keep time with a minimum of three races.

Chairman Jeff Merrett said: "If you can't raise a crew of 17, contact us and join others, there is no cost to the individuals but we do ask each competitor to raise at least £60 in sponsorship.

"In addition, everyone entering the event will be invited to the Timepiece on August 13 for the Dragon Boat Challenge launch party with live music and an opportunity to meet the boat."

The entry fee per team of 17 people is £500, while the price for an individual entrant is £30.

Entry forms and further details can be found on the charity's website www.dream-a-way.co.uk or call Adrian Robinson on 07734281401.
