I have been reading snippets of information from various sources (East Devon District Council and Exmouth Town Council, as well as letters from various associations and groups and other Exmouth residents) published in the Journal over the past months about what could be constructed on the Exe Estuary/bus depot site. Having also checked out ASDA/ASM's website regarding this area, I have gleaned there could be a large building roughly 40,000 sq m to accommodate a library (12,500 sq ft) and possible visitor centre above, plus an adjacent state-of-the-art swimming pool and sports centre, plus an improved public transport facility (already in existence - a railway station and single-line track), plus housing in the form of 27 two-bedroom flats, plus retail units for shopping or cafe use, plus community meeting room, plus parking for cars.Until plans are submitted, we will not know for sure what will be on the site. From information so far, I could assume that Exmouth residents and visitors to the town will be able to drop off their child/children at the state-of-the-art swimming pool and sports centre, shop at the superstore complex for food, household wares, clothing range, pharmacy, books/CDs etc, view the visitor centre, collect books from the library, dash into town for an odd item not on sale at superstore, then collect child/children from state-of-the-art swimming pool and sports centre.I could also assume there will be a consequent build-up of traffic queuing for parking spaces, thus creating a tail back up the A376. Shoppers/visitors coming to the town via rail will not have a problem, but the buses would also be caught up in the traffic queue. Nearby residents will be able to walk to and from the complex. If I have missed something so far, perhaps someone could enlighten me.E Hardwick,Dukes Crescent,Exmouth.
