A Budleigh Salterton, woman who shaved her hair for charity, will donate her locks to children suffering from cancer.

Trish Leake, 60, of Boyne Road, held a head shave outside Franklins, Exmouth. Her hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust charity to make a wig for a child who has lost hair through treatment.

Trish raised £500 for Macmillian nurses after taking part in the fundraising campaign BravetheShave.

Having cut off all her hair for a cause close to her heart after losing two friends to cancer, Trish was delighted with how it went.

She said: “It was a bit shocking at first. The hairdresser cut off all the hair and then did the shave.

“I am very pleased with the result - we raised a lot of money on the day.”

Trish also hailed Franklins for organising the event.

She said: “They helped so much on the day. All their customers gave money to the cause.

“I would also like to thank Mandy Bennett, from Adrian’s hairdressing, in High Street, who cut my hair for free.”

Mandy Bennett, 41, of The Colony, Exmouth, has been cutting hair for 14 years. She was full of praise for Trish’s decision to shave her head for charity.

She said: “I would just like to say well done to Trish for being brave.”
