Transition Town Exmouth invites tree planters and other news

Volunteers are invited to plant a tree on Saturday, March 16, with Transition Town Exmouth. Read this and more.

TRANSITION TREE: Volunteers are invited to plant a tree on Saturday, March 16, with Transition Town Exmouth.

The group will meet at the entrance of Greenfingers garden centre, Pound Lane, at 11am and will spend until 2pm planting new trees as well as maintaining trees planted last year.

After the hard work, the group will head back to the garden centre for refreshments.

Those attending are asked to bring Wellington boots and gardening tools, such as spades, forks, trowels and gloves. Donations of spare tree seedlings or saplings are welcome. For more information, contact Elinor on 01395 268301 or email


CHOIR’S BIG DATE: The choir at St John the Evangelist Church, in Withycombe Raleigh, is working hard rehearsing for its Faure Requiem performance on Saturday, April 13, at 7.30pm.


MATHS KIDS: Move over Carol Vorderman – pupils at Woodbury Primary School attending a new maths club are proving ace number crunchers. Around 40 youngsters go to the weekly club, where they enjoy a range of maths challenges, games and puzzles. Deputy headteacher Alison Sparks said she was ‘delighted’ by the popularity of the club and the youngsters’ willingness to tackle the challenges.
