Town TIC is vital

PUBLISHED: 07:05 22 November 2013

In last week’s Journal, Alec Huett raised a very valid point about Stuart Line Cruises and the capacity for us to provide a Tourist Information Centre to the town of Exmouth.

We have approached East Devon District Council about providing this service at our current location on Exmouth Docks. Whilst not a town centre location, it is a prime area for tourists not just those that arrive by boat.

Our staff deal with questions about Exmouth on a daily basis covering parking, toilets, accommodation, eateries, shopping and other attractions.

We would like to have a permanent base at our current, temporary, location.

It is the only patch of green (and flowers) in an area becoming very built up and our staff proudly add to the flowers and help tend the wildseed boarders.

From a purpose-built office, we would like to provide a TIC service to the people and visitors of Exmouth, as well as provide toilets.

Currently we cannot get a response from EDDC as they are still coming to a decision regarding the slipway repairs, which may see us removed from our current position.

As much as we support repairs to the slipway, we feel a TIC in the town of Exmouth is a vital service that we are offering to provide, we just need a little support.
