As research shows that seaside towns with post-16 educational facilities are the most prosperous, a good way for both authorities to do this would be for them to actively support the efforts of our town council in saving Rolle to provide such a facility for the town, enabling both young people and adults to get the educational qualifications they need for their future employment locally, together with a community facility that the town could be proud of.

What I find surprising is that in the recent edition of Devon Talk issued by Devon County Council, the article on 'Building Schools for the Future' sets out a vision of dual community and educational use for new schools. That is exactly what the community of Exmouth and its town council are trying to achieve for Rolle. It seems odd that this is apparently only available with expensive new builds.

As both the county council and the district council are concerned with the strategic development and regeneration, perhaps it would help if Mr Swire would intervene on Exmouth's behalf and seek cast iron assurances from both that they will invest substantially in the town and consult meaningfully with the local community before doing so?
