Thousands of people gathered in Exmouth on Thursday morning to watch Stage 5 of the Tour of Britain head off from the Strand Gardens.

Team tour buses began to gather on Rolle Street around nine o’clock with crowds trying to catch a glimpse of the riders.

Just before the race local school children and Velo Vintage cyclists rode out to cheers from the spectators before the professional riders started their stage at 11am.

After leaving Exmouth the riders headed through Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh, Woodbury and Topsham and onto their route which took in Dartmoor National Park and eventually finishing back in Exeter over 170km later.
