EXMOUTH'S Tennis and Leisure Centre has announced it will create a new cafe to complement its brand new workout facility, opening next month.The centre, at Withycombe Village Road, owned by Leisure East Devon, has had a state-of-the-art gym installed, which will open on November 10, and plans have been announced to revamp the cafe area into a streamlined Centrecourt cafe and bar.The specialist tennis facility will have workout equipment specially designed to benefit racquet sport fans, and new modern workout stations focusing on sports mobility, toning and floor work, with each cardiovascular machine having its own TV.Jo Louis, manager of Exmouth Tennis and Leisure Centre, said: "As a former tennis player myself, I know how important it is to work on your general fitness and muscle tone as well as practising your shots and tactics."With the installation of the gym, the centre has been transformed into a 'total tennis experience'."The new gym will also have the PowerPlate, a favourite with celebrities like Madonna, a workout machine which gives the equivalent of a 60 minute workout in just 10 minutes. The centre will also welcome a new retail area, stocking a range of tennis equipment and workout accessories. The recent refurbishment coincides with the new gym to be opened up in Honiton this month.l The charitable trust, Leisure East Devon, will also be waiving the usual membership joining fee across the region for those who book an induction and sign up to become a member of any of their East Devon centres, including Exmouth swimming centre, between Wednesday, October 7, and Sunday, October 19.For more information call (01395) 223355.
