Folk enthusiasts and Pentangle fans flocked to Matthews Hall in Topsham on Thursday, March 12, for a special concert.

Acoustic guitarist John Renbourn, now 70, performed in front of a packed crowd with fellow folk musician Wizz Jones as part of their UK Tour.

The pair played songs which recalled the glory days of folk, a time when Wizz Jones performed in Newquay, while Renbourn paired up with Bert Jansch to form Pentangle.

John Renbourn is best known for his time in the 1960s’ folk band, which toured all over the UK as well as America.

Renbourn performed his familiar anthems, including She Moved Through The Fair, The Snows They Melt The Soonest and Sweet Dreams In Heaven. Wizz Jones performed Robert Cray’s Bad Influence as well as When I Leave Berlin, a tune performed by Bruce Springsteen when last in the city.

The pair even gave their rendition of Bob Dylan songs Buckets of Rain and Cocaine.
