Topsham schoolchildren worked with ceramicist Julia Pearsall to create a mural as part of the National Lottery’s Awards for All scheme.

Julia is a ceramic and mosaic artist, who lives near Coldridge, and helped the schoolchildren bring the mural to life.

The Awards for All scheme offers grants of £300 to £10,000 for grassroots and community activities and aims to improve life for people and neighbourhoods. Priority is given to small organisations.

The kids were tasked with creating and designing a mural to welcome visitors at the entrance of Topsham Primary School.

Headteacher Sean Millar said: “The children really enjoyed creating their tiles and the installation at the front of the school has been a talking point, with many of the kids taking great delight in seeing their designs as part of the mural.

“The mural was designed to welcome visitors, reinforce a key school value of friendship whilst reflecting the unique location of Topsham. The mural is a stunning and fantastic piece of artwork.”
