A KEEN sailor from Topsham has taken over the waterway's mantle at a neighbouring town's lifeboat station.

Martin Taylor, who was rescued by the RNLI in the 1970s when his boat, a 27ft Cutlass was holed near Maer rocks, has become the new chairman of Exmouth Lifeboat Management Group.

The lifeboat group oversees the running of the station, taking reports from members responsible for various aspects of its organisation.

Mr Taylor has been working as the Topsham representative for the Boathouse Appeal.
