An exhibition designer flourished at Topsham Flower Club’s annual show as her Wimbledon-themed piece scooped top prize.

Member of the flower club, Liedeke Laurence, had her display chosen as the best out of 30 exhibits by around 300 people who attended the flower exhibition.

Sally Rawlings, a committee member of Topsham Flower Club, praised Liedeke’s piece.

She said: “It was the crispness of her design and her interpretation.

“She used a net in her exhibit and a couple of tennis balls were hidden away.”

Roses, sunflowers, hydrangeas and cosmoses were all on display at the summer-themed show which raised money for Hospiscare and St Nicholas Methodist church. The final total raised has not been counted yet.

Mrs Rawlings added: “It has been a very successful event.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone involved and to all those who attended for their support.”

The flower club will be hosting national demonstrator Coral Gardiner at Matthews Hall, Topsham, on Tuesday, September 20, starting at 7.30pm.
