Thursday, August 7 - TOPSHAM firefighters attended a gas leak in Exeter this morning after a digger drove into a gas main.

TOPSHAM firefighters attended a gas leak in Exeter this morning after a digger drove into a gas main.

The Topsham crew was at 9.15am requested to go to Bittern Road, in Sowton, by Exeter firefighters who needed extra manpower.

A gas engineer for Wales and West suppressed the leak until an engineer with specialist equipment arrived.

The road was closed for several hours by police, but has now reopened.
