TOPSHAM firefighters were called to help rescue an elderly woman stuck in a car – with the vehicle stranded in floodwater. When the crew arrived, at Sowton Village, they found the pensioner had been freed from the car. The incident happened at around 7.50

When the crew arrived, at Sowton Village, they found the pensioner had been freed from the car.

The incident happened at around 7.50pm on Saturday, January 16.

A fire brigade spokesperson said: "One elderly woman was released prior to the arrival of the fire service from a car stuck.
