FIVE candidates are contesting the Topsham Ward seat in the Exeter City Council by elections. (Thursday September 9). The seat came up for grabs after Conservative city councillor Mark Starling resigned from his Topsham seat in July.

It brings the number of seats being contested to 13 – emergency elections in Exeter were called after one-third of the city council lost their seats following a High Court ruling on the failed unitary authority bid.
The candidates in no particular order are: Mike Amor, UK Independence Party; Margaret Baldwin, Conservative; Sandra Barrett, Liberal Democrat; Audaye Khalid Elesedy, Green Party; Eliot Paul Wright, Labour.
The poling station for Topsham is at the Matthews Hall, Fore Street, Topsham.
