TOPSHAM and Exeter firefighters were called to a city cinema on Friday lunchtime when smoke was seen coming from one of the screens.

When the fire crews arrived at the Odeon cinema, in Sidwell Street, they found a small fire had broken out in an electrical motor.

The firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to pinpoint the fire's location.

After making the area safe, the crews used ventilation fans to clear smoke from the premises.
