A top-drawer line-up of local chefs is preparing to wow the crowds at the upcoming Budleigh Salterton Food and Drink Festival.
The event, which is taking place between Friday, March 13, and Sunday, March 15, will feature food and drink demonstrations throughout.
The programme of chefs and experts kicks off on the Friday with Budleigh’s newly-opened Wet Plaice fishmongers; Willi Rehbock, of Rosehill Rooms and Cookery; James Findlay, of Budleigh Wines; John McMillan, of McMillan’s Deli; Mark Diacono, of Otter Farm; and Steve Lamb, of River Cottage.
Saturday’s line-up features Great British Bake Off finalist Glen Cosby; Steve Williams, of Good Game, Topsham; Andy Witheridge, of the Salty Monk, Sidford, Jonathon Clegg, of Redwing Bar and Grill, Lympstone; Eat Weeds wild food forager Robin Harford; Willi Rehbock; and Stuart White, of the Victoria Hotel, Sidmouth. The festival then concludes on Sunday with Robin Rea, of the Rusty Pig, Ottery St Mary; Tim Maddams, of Hall and Hearty; Devon Life Home Cook winner Sue Stoneman; the Reverend Froggatt, from Budleigh, and Charlotte Hanson, The Cake Lady, from Exmouth.
Individual dishes will be prepared during the demonstrations, which some of the audience will get to taste, and visitors can also pick up recipe folders and collect the individual recipes to recreate at home too.
Willi Rehbock, the festival’s head chef, said: “This is a great line-up of chefs and expert cooks.
“We are really lucky to have such amazing people in East Devon.
“On Saturday there will even be the chance to take part in a Ready Steady Cook challenge, so if you are a budding cook and willing to participate in the challenge, it’s your chance for at least 15 minutes of fame!”
The festival is organised by Budleigh in Business as part of its Buy Local campaign.
