I would like to comment on the conversion of family homes into flats.I am really disappointed with East Devon District Council. The property adjacent to my own is pending planning permission for conversion to three flats (numbering five bedrooms) subject to the developer making a financial contribution to the open space and education scheme. Once this has been paid, the developer will be able to start this conversion. One of the biggest problems in The Colony is parking. However, Devon County Council has said that, if provision is made for sheltered secure parking for three bicycles, this will be sufficient! Many residents have voiced objections to this conversion (and to other similar conversions by the same developer) because of over-crowding, lack of parking, over-development and increased strain on drains and sewers in a high-risk flood zone, but these objections have not been heard.Where will the young families of Exmouth live if all our family housing is bought up by developers and turned into flats?Deborah Mitchell (Mrs),16 Woodville Road, Exmouth.
