The Journal recently reported how heartless thieves had stolen Samuel's beloved new toy from his back garden and the news item reached JCB headquarters.

Sam Johnson, Kids Brand Manager of JCB Headquarters in Staffordshire contacted the paper and said; "We read the story and it struck a cord (and a few heartstrings) with our team here. We would love to send Samuel a brand new JCB ride-on to bring a happy ending to this story in troubled times."

Mum Ellen was delighted to be able to tell her son the good news.

Last week the brand new bright yellow digger arrived, along with a complimentary bag, hat and t-shirt for the little boy.

Ellen said "It just gives you hope that there are some decent people out there."

She added "Samuel is over the moon, I am going to send JCB a card and a box of chocolates as a thank you."

And of the thieves who took her son's beloved toy - she had this to say; "It's a very sad shallow thing to do, to steal kiddies toys and I hope they realise just how much heartache they caused Sam through it."

The new JCB is now going to be safely stored under lock and key.
