On, Wednesday, May 20, the final stage of the digital TV switchover will take place in Exeter, parts of Devon, Somerset and Dorset, extending digital terrestrial television (Freeview) coverage to all households. All analogue services will remain switched off permanently to allow Freeview channels to be broadcast from Stockland Hill and the 24 local relay transmitters. Digital UK would like to remind viewers they will need to retune their Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV equipment. Retuning is relatively easy - some TVs and digital boxes do this automatically; others will need to be done manually. To re-tune manually, press 'menu' on the remote control, select the 'set up' or 'installation' option. Select 'first time installation' (sometimes called 'factory reset', 'full retune' or 'default settings'), Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels - don't worry, this is normal. For more help or advice visit www.digitaluk.co.uk/retuning or call 08456 50 50 50. Bill Taylor, South West Regional Manager, Digital UK.
