A committee which runs a popular Topsham community venue has been recognised for its management of the facility, writes Daniel Green.

Topsham Community Association, which runs Matthews Hall, in Fore Street, has received a three-star Hallmark award from Devon Communities Together.

This recognition is given for the work undertaken by volunteer management committees in achieving good building management practice.

Theresa Butchers, Devon Communities Together chairman, said: “Matthews Hall is a shining example of how a well run and accessible building can be a focus for a huge range of local activities, enabling a local community to flourish.

“Topsham Community Association and its hall committee are to be congratulated on what they have achieved.”
